TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - For high school basketball in Leon County, there are few rivalries on the hardwood as deep as Godby and Rickards. Last year, Rickards handed the Cougars a loss in the District title game before being knocked out of the postseason a few weeks later by Godby.

On Friday, the two met for the first time this season. Rickards led the Cougars by four at halftime, but Godby pulled away in the second half, winning 66 to 57.

"They're a heck of a team, heck of a game, that's why everyone was coming to the game," said Cougar head coach Andy Colville. "It was a really, really hard fought win, give them a lot of credit because they've got a very good team. We have to meet at least one, two, maybe three more times again, I'm getting too old for this!"

At St. John Paul II, the Panthers hosted Aucilla Christian, and came away with the 70-50 victory.
