TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - It's been one wild ride for Godby's Ajah Dawson.

"Other teams are home now, so it's like, keep going!" she smiled.

A varsity athlete since her freshman year, Dawson's been through the highs and the lows, and entering her final run in the postseason, she's feeling good about this team.

"It's like in the tradition of us losing, why not want to be different?" she said as Godby prepares for a postseason run. "All the odds are against us. Why not?"

"They're hearing me talk all season about 'okay seniors, before you know it, you're going to blink and it's playoff time,' said head coach Chelsea Johnson. "Well, now we're here. She said the same thing along with the seniors, 'I'm not ready to be finished.' Their game has elevated, their intensity in the practice and the games has elevated and I think that's what places us in a great position to be ready for this playoff run."

It also helps to be ready when Dawson is dropping 11 points per game and leads the team in rebounds. Her leadership off the court is just as impressive, as she has a 3.2 GPA.

"I always say and they probably get tired of me saying it, but the ball will stop dribbling one day," said Johnson. "She's really taken on that and she's said coach I got you, and I'm going to make sure I do what I'm supposed to do in the classroom. They know I live by no class, no court, and they make sure it gets done on both ends."

"It's hard but I have a coach who pushes me more off the court than on the court," added Dawson. "I know if she's sees an F, she'll be like 'oh you're sitting!' It's easy having someone like her that helps me out."

Just like she gets help in the classroom, Dawson is doing her part to help her team make this season a memorable one.

"I know like, they're following me," she said of her younger teammates. "So certain things I do, I see others do, like if I'm sitting down at practice and I see them do it, I say I can't say anything because I did it. Recently , I've been trying to get the other seniors involved, talking. I've been trying hard to get everything together."

If everything falls into place just right these next couple of weeks, that wild ride, could get even crazier.
