MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) - High school boys basketball teams in the state of Florida are in the final week of Regional play. In Class 6A, the Godby Cougars look to get back to Lakeland after falling short last year. To get there, they had to get by a good Rickards team in the Semifinals.

Godby led big at the half, and never looked back, winning 65-50 to advance to Friday's Region One Final against Ribault.

"You know a lot of them didn't play last year, that's what's amazing," said head coach Andy Colville of his team's success. "None of them played two years ago when we went undefeated. To me that just says a lot about our program and our kids to two years later from an undefeated team to have a chance to go back to Lakeland with not one player that was on that team. It's just another game. We have to go into a tough environment, play a tough opponent and try to come out with a win."

Lincoln also advances to the Elite Eight, as they handled Niceville in 8A Region One Semifinal action 68-56.

In Class 1A, West Gadsden beat Chipley 52-43 for the Region Two Championship, and will face Hawthorne next week in Lakeland in the Final Four. The Hornets eliminated Madison County  69-53 in Region Three.
