Godby High, Rickards Boys Basketball Gear Up For Round Four

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - On Tuesday night, the Godby Cougar boys basketball team faces Rickards for the fourth time this season. The two are rivals, and they're also District foes, and on Tuesday, only one team's season will continue, as the year is over for whoever loses the 5A Region 1 Semifinal.

The Cougars won the two regular season match-ups, while Rickards took the District Championship last week. This match-up is one that Godby head coach Andy Colville says is probably the biggest game in Tallahassee in the last two decades. Both are ranked in the top ten in the 5A standings. Godby is last year's 4A State Champion, while Rickards was last year's Class 5A State Runner-up.

So two powerhouses, going at it, and only one will survive, and Coach Colville expects this game to live up to the hype.

"I'd rather us be in two different divisions and both of us winning State Championships but that's not the way it's going to be," he said on Monday. "I think everybody else enjoys the rivalry. I'm not sure Coach Bryant and myself enjoy it as much. It's going to be a war tomorrow, and four games. Like I said, I'd rather play somebody else, but since we're playing them, we're just going to make the best of it and try to move on."

Rickards hosts the match-up. It'll tip-off at 7:00. For a complete list of Regional match-ups featured on Tuesday night, check out the FHSAA's website here.
