TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - Over the last couple of years, the Godby flag football program has been a cut above the rest. The Cougars are a two time State Semifinalist, and they are looking to get back to the promised land this season. Godby has always been one to challenge themselves. Two years ago, they played in the first international high school flag football game beating a team from Canada.
This weekend, they're traveling to New York City to face two powerhouses in inter-state match-ups. It's a good chance to show the north what Cougar flag football is all about, and this group is excited.
"The thing that we've always prided ourselves on and what we thinks makes our program so special and hopefully allow us to be competitive year in and year out is the gauntlet of a schedule we get to play," said assistant coach Ricky Hufty.
"I didn't even know New York had flag football teams at all," laughed senior quarterback Kaylene Colburn. "I think this will be a fun experience. We get to test our skills and abilities against other teams."
Godby leaves for the Big Apple on Friday. They play two games on Saturday.
