TALLAHASSEE, Fla (WTXL) - The Godby Cougar basketball team is currently riding a 36 game win streak. Of course, last season was capped off by that Class 5A State Championship.

This is a new year though, and to gear up for their difficult Region, which besides the Cougars, has three other teams in the top ten, they play a tough schedule. First up, national power Potters House on Saturday at a tournament Godby is hosting. Then next week, the Cougars head west for the Jerry Tarkanian Classic, a prestigious invite only tournament.

That slate is done on purpose, said head coach Andy Colville. He said to improve their game, they have to play the best.

"We want to have a great program here at Godby High School. I think we're on the way to doing that," he said on Thursday. "We won the State last year and we want to be in that conversation every year. Just trying to play as many good teams as we can to try to get better and prepare us for those games and try to win another State Championship which is very difficult because it took us fifty years to win the first one!"

Godby's match-up with Potters House on Saturday caps off the Cougars' one day tournament. Below is the full schedule of games.
