ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia Tech's first game against Georgia Southern has been moved up one year to the 2014 season.
The schedule change announced by Georgia Tech on Tuesday was made to fill a vacancy in the Yellow Jackets' 2014 schedule. It also coincides with Georgia Southern's move up to the FBS as a member of the Sun Belt Conference.
This will be the first game between the in-state rivals. The teams originally agreed to play in 2015.
Georgia Southern coach Jeff Monken was an assistant coach at Georgia Tech from 2007-09.
Georgia Tech's 2014 non-conference schedule also includes a home game against Wofford and road games at Tulane and Georgia.
