ATLANTA (AP) - Robert Carter Jr. tied his season high with 13 points and added a season-high 15 rebounds Tuesday, when Georgia Tech ran all over Mississippi Valley State in the first half on the way to a 76-59 win.
Carter, a sophomore forward, also had four assists and blocked three shots. He did most of his damage in the first half as the Yellow Jackets used a 27-2 run to build a 41-14 halftime lead. He had seven points and 10 rebounds before intermission.
Tech (5-1) had its way inside with the Delta Devils (1-5), outscoring the much smaller SWAC squad 30-0 in the paint in the first half. The final tally was 44-14 for the Yellow Jackets, who played many subs in the second half.
MVSU made 11-of-29 3-pointers in the game, and junior guard Anthony McDonald made three on the way to scoring a team-high 17 points.
