Ga. lawmakers salute Braves great Chipper Jones

ATLANTA (AP) - A long agenda can't keep Georgia lawmakers from a tribute to Atlanta Braves baseball great Chipper Jones.

The retired third baseman came to the Capitol Tuesday to collect resolutions and accolades from legislators and others.

Jones finished a 20-year career last year. He retired as one of the most accomplished switch hitters in Major League history. He was an eight-time All-Star and helped the Braves win multiple National League pennants and the 1995 World Series. Off the field, he's attracted negative headlines through two divorces.

Jones told lawmakers he has no desire to play baseball again. He said his knees hurt just watching the Braves at spring training. But Jones left open the possibility of coaching and says he looks forward to another World Series parade down Peachtree Street.
