TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - No. 8/11 Florida State (31-8) recorded its fourth consecutive shutout with an 11-0 victory in six innings over Florida A&M (8-30) on April 1 at JoAnne Graf Field. The Seminoles have not allowed a run in their last 27.1 innings.
“Nice win tonight,” said FSU head coach Lonni Alameda. “We’ve been getting more consistent at the plate and in the circle and that showed on the field. As a team we are growing into where we want to be at the end of the season and it was good to see them be more aggressive and take advantage of their opportunities. Daddis had a big swing at the end and Jessica had a great day pitching for us and was hitting her spots.”
FSU starter Jessica Burroughs improved to 11-5 on the season and finished with 14 strikeouts to tie a career-high. She pitched 6.0 innings and allowed just two hits and zero walks.
The game came to a close in the sixth inning as the Seminoles plated five runs to secure the 11-0 run-rule victory. Jessica Warren hit her team-leading 10th home run of the season with a solo shot to right to make it 7-0. Consecutive walks to Klaevemann, Maddie O’Brien and Alex Powers loaded the bases for Daddis who crushed a home run to left center for a walk-off grand slam.
The Seminoles hit the road the weekend for a three-game ACC series at NC State. There will be a doubleheader at Dail Softball Stadium beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 3 with a single game on Saturday, April 4 at 12 p.m.
