FSU's Xavier Rathan-Mayes named to All ACC Rookie Team

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) – Florida State’s Xavier Rathan-Mayes, who enters the ACC Tournament averaging a Seminoles freshman record 14.4 points per game, has been named to the All-ACC Freshman Team by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association. Rathan-Mayes has scored 20 or more points seven times this season and is the first freshman in ACC history to score 35 points or more in multiple games during his rookie season. He is the seventh Florida State player to earn All-ACC Freshman Team honors.

Rathan-Mayes also earned All-ACC Honorable Mention honors.

Rathan-Mayes is enjoying one of the top freshman seasons in school history and has already set school rookie records for points in a season (433), field goals made (148), field goals attempted (360) and 3-point shots attempted (154). He is approaching the Seminoles freshman standards for the highest scoring average (14.4; the record is 12.3 by Bob Sura), 3-point shots made (42; the record is 43 by Von Wafer in 2004) and free throws made (95; the record is 106 by Alexander Johnson in 2004).
