TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FSU Sports Information) -  Rising senior Kelsey Goodman closed out her summer season with a sixth place finish in the women’s 3-meter springboard event at the 2013 AT&T National Championships in Iowa City, Iowa.

“She did great,” head diving coach Patrick Jeffrey said. “I’m very proud of her. It was a long summer season and she trained really well. Placing sixth on the national level is always a great accomplishment.”

Goodman first contested in the 1-meter prelims, where she placed 16th with a score of 237.65 after five dives on Tuesday.

Reloading for 3-meter on Thursday, Goodman scored 253.80 in prelims, advancing her into semifinals in 13th place.  Goodman performed the same dive list in semifinals, improving her score to 257.10, placing her in seventh for the round and qualifying her for Sunday’s final.

In finals, Goodman saved her best round for last turning in tally of 269.90, jumping up a spot to take sixth.

“She’s been able to qualify for finals at nationals consistently for the past two years,” Jeffrey said. “I think it’s just going to keep boosting her confidence. She’s one of those divers that needs those experiences and I think that her accomplishments from this summer will set her up really well for this upcoming season.”
