TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The celebration of the National Championship by the Florida State football team scheduled for Saturday January 18th has been postponed.
Florida State officials made the announcement after discovering a number of scheduling conflicts with some of the players that are preparing for the upcoming NFL Combine.
Associate Athletic Director Rob Wilson issued this statement on Wednesday, "Due to travel conflicts and recent schedule changes for some team members, we did not feel it was fair to the fans or our players to host the celebration this weekend. Our draft eligible players expressed that they very much wanted to be part of the celebration. We felt that our fans, many of whom were traveling some distance, might be disappointed that key contributors to the national championship could not be present.”
The Downtown GetDown celebration at the Adams Street Commons will go on as scheduled Friday night.
