TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher has announced the hiring of a third new defensive coach in the aftermath of five Seminole assistants leaving for other opportunities.
Fisher says Charles Kelly is coming aboard on a three-year deal with a starting salary of $275,000 plus incentives. Kelly has spent the past seven years at Georgia Tech, where he was the interim defensive coordinator for the Yellow Jackets the last half of the 2012 season. He will serve as linebackers coach and special team's coordinator at Florida State. A 1990 graduate from Auburn, Kelly played defensive back for the Tigers.
Florida State previously announced the hiring of Jeremy Pruitt from Alabama as defensive coordinator and veteran Sal Sunseri as a defensive assistant. Fisher is still looking for at least two more assistants.
