TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State Seminoles (4-1) earned their first road victory of the season after heading across town and defeating Florida A&M (0-6) by a score of 12-5 on Tuesday night at Lady Rattler Field. The Rattlers got out to a 5-2 lead through four innings, but FSU scored 10 unanswered runs to secure the win.
“FAMU is a tough and scrappy team that makes each game a challenge,” said head coach Lonni Alameda. “I am glad that we were able to have a game like this where we had to dig down and scratch out a win. Very proud of how the team fought through the adversity and stayed focused.”
Florida State will host the Unconquered Invitational at JoAnne Graf Field on February 13-15. No. 8 Michigan, No. 20 Nebraska, Western Kentucky and Georgia Tech will come to town for the three-day tournament. The Noles will play two games on Friday against Nebraska (4:45 p.m.) and Western Kentucky (7:00 p.m.), as well as two more on Saturday versus Michigan (DH starting at 4:45 p.m.). FSU closes out the Invitational on Sunday with a game against Nebraska at 12:15 p.m.
