TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – With the season opener three weeks away, the Florida State baseball team added to its preseason rankings grabbing a spot in the top 25 of three national polls. Perfect Game has the Seminoles at No. 11, while both Baseball America and D1Baseball.com released their preseason poll with FSU sitting at No. 21.
The Seminoles welcome back 15 letterwinners including five positions starters and two pitchers that recorded at least six starts from last year’s squad that recorded 43 wins and an eighth consecutive ACC Atlantic Division title. FSU made its 52nd NCAA Tournament appearance and 37th in a row in 2014.
The Seminoles had eight players selected in the 2014 MLB First Year Player Draft including Luke Weaver who was selected with the 21st overall pick in the first round by the St. Louis Cardinals. With the large number of players that departed after the 2014 season due to graduation and the draft, Florida State welcomes 17 newcomers to the team including five transfers in 2015.
