TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State, winners of eight consecutive baseball divisional titles, is once again the preseason favorite to win the Atlantic Coast Conference Atlantic Division as voted on by the league’s 14 head coaches and announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Over the last eight seasons, the Seminoles have won seven outright divisional titles while sharing the crown once. In 2015, Florida State received seven first-place votes en route to 91 points slightly edging ACC-newcomer Louisville for the top spot in the Atlantic Division. The Cardinals registered four first-place votes and 84 points. Clemson was picked third after tallying three first-place votes and 77 points.
“The ACC will once again be very competitive this year,” Florida State head coach Mike Martin said. “You add Louisville to the mix, a team that played in the College World Series last year, and you have yourself once heck of a league.”
Virginia, which reached the CWS Finals last year, was selected as the overall favorite to win the league in 2015. The Cavaliers were named by 10 coaches as the team to beat for the second straight year, while Florida State received four votes to win the league.
