HERMOSA BEACH, Calif. – Florida State sand volleyball rising junior All-American Jace Pardon continued her stellar summer by winning the U21 gold medal at the USA Volleyball Beach High Performance Championships last week.
Pardon, a Manhattan Beach, Calif., native, rolled through the competition with her partner Lara Dykstra, of Pepperdine.
The pair went a perfect 5-0 in the event, culminating with a three-set victory over the team of Sophie Asprey and Becca Strehlow in the championship match last Thursday. Pardon and Dykstra dropped the first set, 19-21, in the final match but rebounded to win the next two sets, 21-18 and 15-7.
Pardon also finished ninth at the FIVB Volleyball U21 World Championships in Umag, Croatia, last month.
Pardon paired with Alexa Strange to advance to the final 16 in the bracket play portion of the event which featured 39 teams from across the world. The duo finished with an overall mark of 4-2.
In two seasons at Florida State, Pardon has established herself as one of the nation’s top collegiate sand volleyball players, amassing 73 wins and capturing AVCA All-America honors in 2013.
