QUINCY, Fl. (WTXL) - Several former Florida State football players have hosted camps in the North Florida and South Georgia over the past couple of months. On Friday, that list grew, as former Seminole defensive back Leroy Smith returned to his hometown of Quincy, Florida.
The reason? To host his 8th Annual Win-Win Football and Cheerleading Camp. The Shanks High graduate welcomed in close to 100 boys and girls, who took part in drills, games, even some dance battles, all in an effort to engage in a healthy lifestyle and of course, have some fun.
For Smith, returning home is a joy, and it's essential when it comes to giving back the right way.
"I'm from here, I understand what these kids go through," he said Friday. "I understand that these kids are at-risk of childhood obesity and dropping out of school, so I'm just trying to give them some motivation. They can be successful if they put their minds and efforts to it."
Smith added as long as Quincy will have him, he will keep hosting his camp.
