TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tallahassee Community College celebrated four sophomore student-athletes on Tuesday as they put pen to paper to continue their playing careers.
Baseball pitcher Thomas Nicholl, a Leon High School product, will continue playing as a Florida A&M Rattler. Nicholl was 6-0 this season for the Eagles, with 37 strikeouts in 37 innings of work, and says he's ready to don green and orange.
"It's on a rise," he said of the Rattler program, which is looking to win it's second straight MEAC Championship. "I'm like the coaching, I'm very close with the pitching coach. I've known him for a long time. He's helped me get to where I am and I'm glad to be getting back with him."
Also signing on Tuesday were softball stand-outs Julianne Gillo and Jaylene Pryor, who both signed with Norfolk State. Women's basketball player Eboni Watts, who averaged nearly fifteen points per game in her sophomore campaign, will continue her career with the Kansas Jayhawks.
"I'm going in to what I want to do," she said. "I feel like my plans are to play overseas, so it's really exciting, especially going to Kansas. That's a big opportunity and I have to take full advantage of it."
