TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - Four athletes, four different sports, all four signed college scholarships Wednesday at Florida High.
"It's really exciting. I never thought I'd be running track in college," said Karyelle Farmer, who signed with Florida A&M. "It's a big moment for me
Volleyball stand-out Ta'Korya Green inked with Middle Georgia State, and said signing today was a dream come true.
"Most people's career ends at the high school," she said. "I knew that wasn't the decision I wanted. I worked my behind off to make this happen."
Softball player Olivia Russell will suit up for the Tallahassee Community College Eagles next year. Russell helped lead Florida High to the Class 4A Regional Finals this season.
"It's really exciting to share this day with all my coaches and friends and teammates throughout the years," she said.
"I feel like these 13 years have really paid off in the long run," said Brandon Kelley, who will play soccer at Thomas University. "Been a lot of hard work to make this day possible."
Victor Castano was also recognized at Wednesday's signing celebration. Castano played soccer for the Seminoles, and received a $166,000 scholarship to attend Embry-Riddle in the fall, where he plans to study Aeronautical Engineering with plans to become an astronaut.
