TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - One former Florida State Seminole gave back to the Tallahassee community on Monday night, as Ernie Sims kicked off his two day Turkey Drive aimed to give 100 turkey's to families in need.
Sims, who is also a North Florida Christian grad, teamed up with the Boys and Girls Club of the Big Bend to make the drive happen, and said giving back is a no brainer.
"My parents did a lot, laying the foundation growing up and a lot of these families, they aren't fortunate to have both of their parents," said Sims Monday after giving out fifty turkeys to families. "It's just my token of appreciation for what God has done for me throughout my young thirty years of life. I'm just trying to give back, that's all."
On Tuesday, Sims will be at the Providence Community Center at 1908 Highland Street from 5-7 to give out 50 more turkeys to families in need.
