PINEHURST, N.C. (WTXL) - A pair of former Seminole All-Americans played some of their best golf as professionals at the U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2.

Brooks Koepka tied for fourth place with a four-day total of 1-over par while Daniel Berger finished in 28th-place, but carded a 4-under par score on Sunday, the second lowest single-round score of the tournament, bested only by event champion Martin Kaymer.

"I am always proud of each of them," said head coach Trey Jones. "I am positive both players will use this experience and will be back in this situation in the near future. They are both tough, young men and this was evident of how they handled the challenges of a U.S. Open."

With Koepka's top-four finish, the Noles have been represented in the top four of each of the past three major championships. Jonas Blixt finished fourth in the 2013 PGA Championship and second in the 2014 Masters. Koepka also secured enough FedEx Cup points (by coming in fourth) to earn a full schedule on the PGA Tour for the remainder of 2014 and the entirety of 2015

"Brooks played steady all week and that is a credit to his talent and maturity," continued Jones.

Berger was the big mover Sunday at the U.S. Open, vaulting 29 spots on the scoreboard with his 4-under par score.

"Daniel's bounce back round shows why I have always considered him the best I have coached at putting a bad shot behind you and moving on," concluded Jones.
