TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) - A lot of athletes have come up through the Leon County school system. Some have gone on to play collegiately, while fewer have made it to the professional ranks. For Lincoln High School graduate BJ Daniels, check all three off the list.
Daniels played football at South Florida before embarking on his NFL career, one that's already won him a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks. Daniels gave back to the community that started it all Friday night, as he hosted the 1st Annual BJ Daniels Celebrity Basketball Game in Tallahassee.
He said the event was put together in about a month, and said it's an honor to give back to his hometown.
"This was a great opportunity for me to do it," he said Friday night. "We have the offseason right now so it was a little bit of dead time before our season started so with the help of a lot of people in this community and even FAMU, I was able to pull it off. It really wasn't me, with all the moving parts and people that help me put this together."
Daniels' team won the game, 61-60.
