BRANFORD, Fla. (WTXL) - Every team's dream is to win a State Championship. To get there, you have to make it to the postseason, something that hasn't been done since 2000 for Branford High School.
The Buccaneers actually haven't even won a District game since 2008, when they went 7-3. Roy Harden is back for his fourth season as head coach of the Bucs, and said the main mission this year is to finish games, as Branford lost quite a few games last season by seven points or less.
The Buccaneers return their quarterback, as well as junior running back Garrette Warren, as well as their entire offensive line, and Coach Harden said the guys are ready to play.
"We're worked hard in the offseason, and we've continued to stress finishing throughout the season," he said. "It's exciting every time we start another season. These young men worked hard. These last two weeks we have been getting ready for our football season. This Friday we have our fall kickoff classic this week, so we're definitely excited for the start of the season."
Branford hosts St. Johns Country Day on the 21st in preseason action. They open up the regular season on the road at Aucilla Christian on August 28th.
