The Florida State University Women’s athletics teams are once again joining forces with Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare for the fifth annual “Paint it Pink” campaign. During the 2013-14 seasons, each of Florida State’s ten women’s sports will take part in a ‘Pink’ event of some kind. Teams will don such items as pink shoe laces, swim caps, and jerseys during their respective ‘Pink’ games. Proceeds from each ‘Pink’ game will be donated to the Tallahassee Memorial Cancer Center.
On Monday, September 23 at 11:30 a.m., administrators from both Florida State’s Athletic Department and Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare will gather at the Moore Athletic Center to address the media regarding “Paint It Pink.” All media outlets are invited to attend. Coaches from some of the various participating teams will also be available at that time.
Cancer has impacted all of our lives in some way; it is through efforts like the “Paint It Pink” Campaign that we move closer to a cure. The administration and staff of the Athletics Department along with our student-athletes are pleased to be able to help raise awareness of such a worthy cause. "At Tallahassee Memorial, we are committed to fighting cancer with early detection and the region’s best treatment options at our Cancer Center," said Matt Sherer, Administrator of Oncology. “We are proud to partner with Florida State Athletics again to further raise awareness and funds for the fight against cancer through the “Paint it Pink” campaign.”
Fans will have the chance to contribute to the cause all season long through different fundraising opportunities at each ‘Pink’ game. The first four years of the campaign has resulted in over $43,000 raised for the cause. Online auctions will be held at Seminoles.com with ‘Pink’ themed memorabilia including game worn jerseys. Donations of any amount will be accepted at each ‘Pink’ event. Fans are encouraged to check Seminoles.com for updates on when each ‘Pink’ game will be held.
