TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –  The Florida State Women’s Basketball team has earned a No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament and will face 12th-seeded Middle Tennessee in the first round on Saturday, March 19, at 1:30 p.m. ET in College Station, Texas on ESPN2.

The winner between FSU and Middle Tennessee will face the winner of site host and No. 4 seed Texas A&M and No. 13 Missouri State on Monday, March 21, at a time to be determined. The Seminoles have been placed in the Dallas Regional.

“Every year it’s so hard to do this,” FSU head coach Sue Semrau said of making the NCAA Tournament. “Many programs don’t get this opportunity and we never take it for granted. Obviously, we work hard every year, and this is the goal – to be in this tournament and see what we can do.”

Florida State earns a fifth seed for the third time in program history but the first time under Semrau’s reign. The last time FSU was seeded fifth was in the 1991 NCAA Tournament when it defeated No. 12 Appalachian State in the first round.

The Seminoles own a 23-7 overall record which includes a 13-3 mark in the ACC, their second-most ACC wins in program history behind last year’s record-setting 14-2 campaign. FSU is making its 15th NCAA Tournament appearance, including its 11th in the last 12 seasons. Twelve of the program’s 15 NCAA postseason appearances have come under Semrau.

The Seminoles are 17-14 all-time in the NCAA Tournament and have won at least one game in each of their last 12 NCAA appearances dating back to the 1991 postseason.

Florida State has faced the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders two times, splitting 1-1. The two teams have not played each other since Nov. 28, 1993, when FSU won 66-43.
