TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - On Tuesday, Florida State running back Dalvin Cook was seen with a walking boot on, and the questions began. After Cook sat out Thursday, Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher confirmed that Cook will in fact sit against Syracuse on Saturday.

Cook injured his ankle against Georgia Tech, and Fisher said the coaching staff was unaware of the injury until after the game. As far as the hamstring injury Cook has been nursing, Fisher said it's continuing to improve.

North Florida Christian grad Johnathan Vickers and Jacques Patrick will play in place of Cook, and Fisher said Patrick has really been impressive all week.

"I have been very pleased with practice this week," he said Thursday. "Jacques is ready. This is about the time Dalvin and those guys came out last year. He's getting the blocking assignments and all the things to pick up the blitz. He does a great job and he has a big body. He does a real good job in those things. Of course he catches the ball so dadgum well. I've always said that. They all got hands, but I think he probably has the best hands."

Florida State's match-up with Syracuse is slated for 12 noon on Saturday.
