TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Florida State women's basketball season kicks off officially on November 16th, when the Seminoles travel south to Gainesville to face Florida. On Thursday, the ladies celebrated the start of the season with some of their most loyal fans.
The Noles are coming off a historic run to the Elite Eight, and head coach Sue Semrau hoped to inspire the season ticket holders in attendance Thursday to help the ladies create a winning environment for the season, and fill every section in the Civic Center.
"I think we have a really fun team on the floor," she said Thursday night. "I really want to see this place rocking. The Tucker Center has never been better and I really want to see this thing full every game."
The Florida State men debut their team on Friday night at their annual "Jam With Ham" event, and this year, all eyes will be on the highly touted recruiting class.
Head coach Leonard Hamilton impressed with his team a week in, but they still have a long ways to go.
"Just in terms of developing some synergy and togetherness, right now we're still learning a system, so we're still a work in progress," he said at practice this week. "The effort is good, the attitude is great, and when you have those two components you feel like it's only a matter of time before you reach your potential, and that's what we're all striving for."
"Jam With Ham" kicks off at 7:00 on Friday night.
