TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - Two weeks ago, Florida High began to work out a contract to put a familiar face coaching on the sideline.
On Monday, it became official, and starting next fall, former Florida State football and basketball stand-out Charlie Ward will coach basketball at Florida High.
Ward won a National Championship and was a Heisman Trophy winner at Florida State, but chose to pursue basketball at the next level. He was drafted in the 1st round of the 1994 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks. He played until 2005.
He's spent the last four seasons coaching football at Booker T. Washington in Pensacola. This will be Ward's first head basketball coaching job.
