Florida State Golf Looks To Prove Preseason Hype

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - There's something to be said about a program that year in and year out is a contender for a National Championship. Last year, the Florida State golf team was the top seed when they entered the 2015 National Championships, and after a showing not up to par with expectations, the Noles are hungry.

FSU returns three All-Americans from last year's team, Rowin Caron, Hank Lebioda and Jack Maguire. Florida State was ranked the top team in the country for nearly four months last season, so the guys are used to the pressure.

Good thing, because the Noles head in to this season with a number one ranking, and they're ready to prove that number one spot is deserved.

"Rankings are great, but they don't do anything for you," said Lebioda before practice on Tuesday. "They're just what everyone else thinks about you. We know we put in more work. We've worked harder than any other team in the Nation. That's what we're proud of and that's what we're confident about."

"We're just excited period," said head coach Trey Jones, who's entering his 12th season at the helm of the Seminole program. "We've been waiting on this all summer since last year ended. I'm tired of people saying you had a great year, but sorry about how it ended. I'll just leave it at that."

The Seminoles kickoff the 2015 season at the Olympia Fields Invitational this weekend.
