TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Florida State men's basketball team returned home for the first time in nearly a month over the weekend. It was a happy homecoming, as the Noles beat Southeastern Louisiana 75-58. On Wednesday night, Florida State hit the court in a tough match-up with Mississippi State.
The Bulldogs are powered by freshman Malik Newman, who was a McDonald's All-American with Florida State's Dwayne Bacon in high school. The Bulldogs led much of the first half, but Florida State took over the lead late off a Terrance Mann put back, and never looked back.
Bacon led the Seminoles with 20 points and six rebounds in the 90-66 win. Fellow freshman Malik Beasley had 17 points. Florida State returns to action on Saturday when they take on Florida Atlantic in Sunrise in the Orange Bowl Classic. Tip-off is at 5:00.
