TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - After a trip to the Super Regionals last year, another season begins for the Florida State baseball team- officially, because Friday was the first day of practice.
The Seminoles went through traditional drills on Friday, and with six positional starts returning, things look pretty bright. They do have a big bat to fill in the line-up though with the departure of DJ Stewart.
Florida State opens the season against Rhode Island, and until then, head coach Mark Martin knows they have some work to do.
"I'm very pleased with what I am seeing from the defensive side," he said. "I'm not pleased with what I am seeing from the offensive side, but they haven't even had an at bat in the regular season yet. We can't get too far ahead of ourselves. We have to stay even keel as we've tried to do."
Game one of their three game set with Rhode Island is February the 19th.
