TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - Last year, the Florida High wrestling program changed the name of their annual tournament to the Cam Brown Seminole Classic in honor of former athlete Cam Brown, who passed away from cancer in 2017.

Cam wanted to be remembered, and this tournament is the perfect way to do that. This year's Classic kicked off Friday, runs through Saturday at Florida High. It gives athletes a chance to compete against some of the area's best wrestlers, all while honoring Cam.

"We still talk about Cam all the time. He came up yesterday at the end of our practice," said head coach Clay Allen. "It's very important for the kids. I told the kids, we have to keep one of these trophies. We have to keep one of these trophies because we have to find more excuses to have his name around us and be able to look at it and bring it up and talk about it. That;s what he asked for and that's what he wanted."

The JV portion of the tournament kicks off at 9am Saturday, while Varsity gets underway at 10.
