Florida High Softball Gets Walk-off Win; Baseball Teams Fight For District Titles

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - On Wednesday night, playoffs for high school softball teams kicked off across the state of Florida. On Thursday, playoffs continued, as teams from Classes 4A-1A looked to go from the Sweet Sixteen to the Elite Eight.

The Florida High Seminoles hosted Episcopal in the Class 4A Region 1 Semifinals. The match-up was scoreless until the bottom of the 7th, when Brianna Prichard recorded the walk-off, a slap to shallow left which scored Katelyn Hollenbeck for the 1-0 win. LeAnn Hayes got the win in the circle, recording eleven strikeouts, while walking just three and giving up three hits.

Florida High will host Trinity Christian for the Class 4A Region 1 Final on Tuesday, as the Conquerors beat Taylor County 6-2. In Class 3A, North Florida Christian picked up a Semifinal win, as they beat Oak Hall 9-1.

Aucilla Christian beat Peniel Baptist 13-0 in Class 2A, while Lafayette moves on in Class 1A with the 3-0 win over Fort White. Also in Class 1A, Madison County lost to Union County 8-7.

High school baseball teams hit the field for District Championships on Thursday night. At Maclay, the Marauders took on North Florida Christian for the Class 3A District 1 title. NFC took the early 2-0 lead, and didn't look back, beating the Marauders 2-1.

In Class 8A, Lincoln beat Chiles 11-9 for the District 1 crown, while Aucuilla Christian recorded the 2-0 over Munroe for the Class 2A District 1 title. The Wakulla War Eagles didn't win a District game all season long, but on Thursday, Wakulla beat Mosley 4-3 for the Class 6A District 2 title.

Godby fell 7-3 to Marianna for the Class 5A District 2 title, while in Class 4A, Taylor County beat Florida High 10-9 in a District 1 Semifinal game. The Bulldogs will face Pensacola Catholic, who beat North Bay Haven 3-0, for the District Championship Friday night.
