TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - If the Florida High football team was anywhere inside the fifty this year, there was a shot at a field goal. To put it bluntly, Chase Allbaugh was a beast for the Seminoles this season, going 29 of 30 in point after attempts, and 7 of 11 in field goals. His season long? 47 yards.
Football is over, but Chase and that dynamite leg are helping the Seminole soccer team do big things, and for Chase, the round ball has always been his first love.
"I started when I was like six or seven, and started playing travel soccer and kept going," he remembered.
Chase has kept going all the way to becoming a three year Varsity starter for the Seminoles, and after falling short in last year's Class 2A State playoffs, the hype surrounding this team is very real, thanks in part to Chase.
"Chase is a very unique athlete," said soccer head coach Mark McQueen. "You're never going to see Chase down. He's always got a great attitude, he's a jokester so he manages to keep everything in perspective."
"I'm pretty excited," smiled Chase. "We have a really good team coming back. If we keep staying focused and disciplined, we can do a lot."
The discipline carries over from the pitch to the classroom, as Chase carries a 4.5 GPA.
"It's a lot, but both soccer and football both have study halls and the coaches really put an emphasis on academics and that helps a lot too," he said.
"Chase being a part of the team, the fun part is his energy," said coach McQueen. "Like I said, Chase is always up, he's going to motivate. With the support of his family and the support here at the school, there's no limit to what Chase can do."
No limits, for Chase or for this Seminole squad.
