TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - It's playoff time for high school softball teams across the state of Florida. As a District Champion, the Seminoles of Florida High hosted Friday night in the 4A Region 1 Semifinals.
Visiting Episcopal scored in the third inning, and led 1-0 over the Noles until the bottom of the seventh inning. With two outs, Macy Mizell reached on a throwing error, and scored to tie it.
With runners on the corners, sophomore Taylor Holland sent a shot to right which drove in the game winning run.
"We've pushed each other. We've had our differences on this team, but I know no matter what we have each other's back because we have one goal and that's state for Vero," said Holland. "All I have to say is it just wasn't me it was my whole entire team. It's a team win."
"We have seven seniors. They do a good job," said head coach Rick Rossman of the leadership on his team. "I'm really just speechless. I'm just so happy for them. I know they were down a little bit in the 6th and 7th inning, and they kept fighting."
In Class 3A, Maclay beat St. Johns Country Day 6-1 in Semifinal action. They will play North Florida Christian for the Region 1 final on Tuesday, winner goes to the Final Four.
In Class 1A, Lafayette beat Baldwin 11-6. They will face Union County Tuesday.
