LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) - Chardell Jones had 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead Orlando Jones to a 56-44 win against Tallahassee Florida State University School in the Class 5A girls basketball championship game Saturday.
Jones (23-7) outscored Florida State University School 19-8 in the second quarter and took a 31-22 advantage into halftime.
A three-point play from Jamiya Turner gave the Tigers a 38-24, their largest lead of the game, in the third quarter.
The Seminoles (26-6) closed the deficit to 42-34 early in the fourth quarter but Jones answered with field goals from Shania Jacobs and Meoshia Peterson. Florida State University School got as close as eight twice more but Jones closed the game out at the free-throw line.
Turner had 14 points while Jacobs added 11 points for Jones. Sarah McCrackin led the Seminoles with 17 points and nine rebounds.
