Tallahassee, FL (WTXL) -- More than 400 fans enjoyed Florida State University School's athletic facilities on a Saturday morning before football season. That's because the athletic department held a Fan Day to encourage the surrounding community to attend the school's games this fall. The event featured games, football drills, and food.
Senior Middle Linebacker Austin Stinson is excited to start this upcoming football season. He hopes to see Florida High's game attendance increase after Saturday's festivities.
"We are trying to raise awareness for the Southwood community that we are playing football here," Stinson said. "Bring more people to our games so we can have a better fan base and louder gametime."
Florida State University Schools Football Coach Jarrod Hickman says he has seen crowds increase in the last few years.
"Every year it's been a little bit better," Hickman said. "We have seven home games this year so it is important to have support from the community, but its definitely gotten better every year and we are excited to start the season."
