Atlanta (WTXL)-- An Antonio Callaway 85 yard punt return was not enough for Florida to overcome its offense woes and top Alabama in the SEC Title Game. Alabama wins 29-15. Florida had just 3 yards combined in the second and third quarters of the title game.
"Hats off to an outstanding Crimson time team that took our offense out of it." Florida Head Coach Jim McElwain said. "You know what there are a lot of disappointed guys in that locker room and its good to see because as you go through life you have ups and you have downs," McElwain added.
Former Florida State Quarterback Jake Coker threw for two touchdowns and 204 yards passing. On his first touchdown pass to ArDarius Stewart, Stewart hauled it out of mid-air for a 32 yard touchdown to increase Alabama's lead to 22-7.
The passing game was setup by Heisman Trophy favorite Derrick Henry. He finished with 189 yards rushing on a physical 44 carries and one touchdown. Henry now has 23 touchdowns this season which ties an SEC record. He also has 1,986 yards rushing this season surpassing Herschel Walker's 34-year-old single season record. Florida has now lost two straight games and falls to 10-3 this season.
