TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Florida A&M women's basketball team dropped Saturday's pivotal contest to Morgan State. The loss dropped FAMU to 3-2 in MEAC play, making Monday's match-up with 2-1 Coppin State crucial as they chase a conference title.

Head coach LaDawn Gibson said she was disappointed with her team after falling on Saturday, but on Monday night, the Rattlers came out firing, and led by ten at halftime.

The Rattlers sealed up the win 79-73 thanks to some late free throws, improving to 4-2 in MEAC play.

The Rattler men took the floor after the ladies with their performance less then stellar. The men trailed 28-24 at halftime, and fell 70-66, a result head coach Byron Samuels said his team deserved.

"Had we come back, and tied it and went to overtime and came back and won, I would have still felt the same way that we didn't deserve to win," he said after the loss. "We got exactly what we deserved tonight. Sometimes you win and don't deserve it, sometimes you lose and you deserve it. We were 0-12 from the free throw line in the first half. You can't win basketball games that way."

The Florida A&M women and men return to action on Saturday the 23rd, when they travel to Howard. The ladies tip at 2:00, then men's game follows.
