TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - Florida A&M made the hire of hometown guy Willie Simmons back in December. Since then, there's been renewed interest in the program, a new turf field is being completed right now at Bragg, and along the way Coach has never forgotten where he came from - Quincy.

Saturday, Coach heads back to his hometown, as he is taking practice on the road to his old stomping grounds at Corry Field.

It's something he did in the spring, and something he hopes to continue to do.

"We want to make it a yearly tradition, where we take the team over to where I grew up, where I cut my teeth playing the game of football," he said. "I think it's a great way to give back to the community of Quincy, Gadsden County, and kind of see a hometown boy up close and personal. We are excited about the opportunity for it, and we're hoping to make it something people look forward to every year."

Practice starts at 3:30 Saturday at Corry Field, which is in front of the old Shanks High School.
