TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - The Florida A&M football team is 1-2 on the season, but those losses, when it comes down to it, really don't mean much. One was to FBS Troy, while the other was to Jackson State who plays in the SWAC.
This weekend is when things get real for the Rattlers, as MEAC play starts. Head coach Willie Simmons said he is focused on this team's goal of winning a conference championship.
Up first? Savannah State, a team that has yet to score a touchdown in two games, but those two opponents? FBS programs. Simmons said Tuesday he's focused on the Rattlers past against the Tigers.
"It's been a dog fight with Savannah State every year we've played them the last few years, and I expect nothing different," he said. "They're in the last season of MEAC play, so I'n sure their rallying cry is to try to end the season as MEAC Champs before they make the transition down to Division II. This is their first conference game. This is our first conference game, again the first two games of the season have no bearing on what will happen on Saturday."
Kick-off for Saturday's match-up with the Tigers is set for a 6:00 kickoff at Bragg.
