TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Florida A&M men's basketball team lost a heartbreaker on the road at MEAC leading Hampton on Monday night. Head coach Byron Samuels commented last week that his team is close to turning the corner and being a great team.
They've more then doubled their wins from last year, and the Rattlers look to get two more victories this weekend, when they return home for a Conference doubleheader.
To become the great team he knows they can be, Samuels said they have to do things to not hurt themselves, and added while he was pleased with the way his team played against Hampton, a game he feels they should have won, it is a little discouraging to be so close and lose.
"What I told them was this, if you continue to believe in yourself, and believe in each other, and what we're trying to teach you, then we're going to have success," he said at practice Wednesday night. "We're going through some labor pain, so to speak, to use that analogy. Once we get through these pains, I think the birth is going to be something really good."
The Rattlers return to action Saturday night when they host Morgan State. The women tip at 4:00, the men follow. Monday, both teams host Coppin State.
