TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - Milton Overton stepped down at Athletic Director at Florida A&M two weeks ago. On Wednesday, FAMU graduate John Eason was formally introduced as the Interim AD, and the former Rattler football player, said it is an honor to come back and serve his alma mater.
A national search for Overton's permanent replacement is underway. Eason said he's not concerned about the length of time he's serve as Interim AD, adding he wants to make a difference while he's in the role.
One of the biggest issues he has to tackle is facilities. With newer and nicer facilities comes bigger talent, and that is something that has to happen for the Rattlers.
"I think it's important that the Rattlers see something. We can always talk about it. We can always give money, but what do you see?" he said Wednesday. "We need them to see something. We need them to see where their money is going. I think it's extremely important that we give them something they can see. Now, the giving will begin, because hey, look at what they're doing. That's what we need."
Eason also brought up FAMU head coach Alex Wood, who's in the last year of his contract. He said he will not be involved in the decision to retain or release Wood. That decision will be made by Interim President Larry Robinson and Overton.
