TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Caleb York threw four touchdown passes and South Carolina State overpowered Florida A&M, 48-14 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opener for both schools Saturday night.
York capped a seven-play, 43-yard drive with a 3-yard pass to Ahmaad Harris to give the Bulldogs the early lead.
The Rattlers (0-4, 0-1) tied the game in the second quarter when Kenneth Coleman found Desmond Noird with a 19-yard touchdown pass, but it was all SC State after that.
Bishop Ford scored from a yard out and York found Quan Caldwell with a 14-yard strike to make it 21-7 at intermission. Tyler Scandrett kicked field goals from 31- and 27-yards out in the third quarter and York hit Deangel Frazier with a 55-yard scoring strike to make it 34-7 after three quarters.
Dayshawn Taylor returned an interception 52 yards to cap the scoring for SC State (1-3, 1-0).
York was 18 of 36 for 241 yards.
