TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) - The theme for this year's Florida A&M baseball team? More.
Head coach Jamey Shouppe wants more from this squad. More wins. Perhaps a MEAC Championship. A berth into the NCAA Tournament.
He thinks they have the talent to do it. This group is senior heavy, and there is talent back at every position on the field. Shouppe said he thinks he will have at least five seniors in the line-up at any given time, and he is hoping they will lead the way to an unforgettable season.
"We have an experienced ball club and the expectations are high this year and they should be based on a senior laden team," he said. "You have a lot of guys that have Regional experience, two or three years ago, so I'm excited to get started and see where it takes us this year."
"A lot of those guys are into it, getting us ready, getting us prepared for when we get to the tournament," added junior Jordan Curtis, a Lincoln High School product who spent the past two years at Tallahassee Community College. "I know we have a great team and we have a good chance to get it done. We have a lot of good ball players here."
Sixteen of the Rattlers first eighteen games are at home, starting February 16th when they open up the season with Marshall.
