TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Florida A&M Rattler baseball team fell in game one of their three game series with Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday night. Due to impending bad weather, the two squared off in a doubleheader on Friday.

In the first match-up of the day, Florida Gulf Coast took a 3-0 lead in the first. The two exchanged runs in the fourth, and despite a two run 7th by the Rattlers, Florida Gulf Coast held on for the 6-5 win.

In the third and final game of the series, the Rattlers started off strong, taking a 3-0 lead thanks to a Shane Gordon three run home run in the second. FAMU led 5-0 in the fourth, but gave up nine runs over two innings to trail 9-5.

The Rattlers responded in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring six runs with two outs to take the 11-9 lead, and they never looked back, winning 14-9 to avoid the sweep.

Over the series, the Rattlers had 43 hits, while four players hit their first home runs of the season on Friday. Florida A&M returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to the University of North Florida.
