Tallahassee, FL (WTXL) --At Dreamland BBQ Sunday evening the FAMU Rattlers softball team found out they could come back to the BBQ establishment if they desire during the NCAA Regionals. That's because the Rattlers are staying in Tallahassee and playing FSU in the NCAA Regionals Friday at 2:30pm right down the street from their own softball field.
The Rattlers are grateful to be in the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season, but they just wish they had the chance to travel and have a true postseason experience away from Tallahassee.
"The college experience is about exposure and trying and looking at different avenues and different things." FAMU softball coach Veronica Wiggins said. "We are going across the street. We are going to accept it and use it as journey that's all we can do."
FAMU won the MEAC Championship for the third straight season on Saturday after splitting a doubleheader against Bethune-Cookman. The FSU Softball team beat Notre Dame in the ACC Championship to complete its ACC tournament three-peat. The Noles topped Notre Dame 7-3. FSU earned a top eight national seed on Sunday evening. Consequently, FSU hosts the Regionals as well as the Super Regionals if they advance.
FSU beat FAMU in both meetings this season. The other two teams in the FSU Regional are South Florida and South Carolina. Tickets for the NCAA Regional go on sale Monday, May 16th at 8:30am.
