LAKELAND, Fla. (WTXL) - Day one of the Florida High School Athletic Association's girls basketball State Finals tipped off Tuesday morning. Four Big Bend teams are represented this year, and all four have the same goal - to bring home a State Championship.
The Lafayette Hornets got the days started, as they faced South Walton in the Class 1A State Semifinals. The Hornets trailed 10-9 at the half, and were outpaced the final two quarters, falling 40-31.
In Class 2A, the Aucilla Christian Warriors made their first ever appearance in the Final Four, as they faced Grandview Prep. Ramsey Sullivan lead Aucilla with 17 points, but it wasn't enough, as the ladies fell 64-50.
In Class 3A, the FAMU DRS Baby Lady Rattlers closed out the night against Somerset Prep in Semifinal action. Erin Turral scored 22 for the Baby Ladies en route to the 59-48 win. They will play Thursday against Carrollwood out of Tampa for the State Championship, where a win would give them three straight State Championships. Tip-off for that match-up is at 7:00.
